The installation consists of a 16-piece foam puzzle mat island, which serves as the stage for the film Koffer, Anzug, Kegel (2022). This marked, walkable area also functions as a viewing platform. On the island, a CRT screen emits scratchy, hissing, and soft sounds, emphasizing the tactile qualities of the spiky suit worn by the performer. The old-fashioned CRT screen evokes nostalgia, while also integrating into the overall installation.

The objects—suitcase, suit, and cones—carry symbolic meanings. The suitcase represents travel and is difficult to close, making clattering noises and resisting closure. The suit symbolizes seriousness and bourgeois values, which are distorted by the colorful, grotesque cones. The cones, in vivid, possibly toxic colors, rustle, obstruct movement, and challenge the performer’s usual freedom of action. Removing them feels like shedding a second skin.

The title Immer wieder neu anfangen reflects both the possibility of reactivating the performance and the ongoing process of artistic creation. The suitcase, suit, cones, and performer form part of an absurd moment, one that stumbles and only lasts briefly before being discarded. The interplay of costume, performance, and spatial intervention results in a Gesamtkunstwerk—a complete work of art that invites reflection on movement, identity, and societal constraints.
