The videos Life of their own I +II follows a solitary protagonist wandering through an abandoned landscape, evoking themes of searching and self-discovery. At a predetermined location, the protagonist encounters an object made out of fabric—a seemingly lifeless yet waiting presence. The protagonist explores this object through tentative movements—touching, feeling and examining. Gradually, they adopt it, incorporating it into their body until the object becomes more than a costume; it fuses with the protagonist. The costume becomes a second skin, blurring boundaries between wearer and worn, raising questions of agency: who controls and activates whom? As time passes, the protagonist sheds the costume, leaving it behind. This act of separation—whether tender or decisive—marks a transition and leaving traces of their interaction in the landscape. The narrative explores identity, transformation, and the cyclical nature of attachment and detachment. Why did the protagonist need the costume? And what does it mean to leave it behind?
