Water and Dreams brings together image, material, and projection to question how bodies are looked at and staged across time. Four large blue fabrics, treated with dye, ink, and bleach, carry motifs of the Köçek—male dancers of the Ottoman Empire once celebrated for their beauty and erotic presence. Onto these surfaces, two black-and-white video channels are projected, showing fragments of men in contemporary online webcam shows. Their gestures, touches, and partial exposures resonate with the historical figures, opening a dialogue between past and present modes of desire, display, and vulnerability.
